J. (Camerino 1548-Lima 1610) has taken on greater importance due to the discovery of the series of eight paintings on The principal Mysteries of the life and death of Christ our Savior and the Blessed Virgin his mother, painted for the church of the College of the Transfiguration in Cusco at the end of the 16th century and recently found in the church of Santo Tomás de Aquino in the district of Rondocan, province of Acomayo in Cusco. One of the eight themes represented in the series is The Apparition of the Risen Christ to his mother, confusingly named in the 1769 Temporalities inventory as The Apparition of the Magdalene, and in contemporary publications (2015, 2016, and 2018) called Allegory of the Triumph of the Resurrection. The article makes an iconographic and iconological study of the painting and proposes an approach to the visual sources.

Keywords: Bernardo Bitti, Jesuits, Cusco, Rondocan, iconography
}, number={18}, journal={Illapa Mana Tukukuq}, author={Tejada Farfán, Andrea Giuliana}, year={2021}, month={dic.}, pages={66–79} }
