Between science, Republic of Letters, and the political power: The case of Hipolito Unanue

This article aims to stablish the relationship that the well-known scientist, Doctor of Medicine and Peruvian Intellectual Hipólito Unanue had with the political power during the Viceroyalty and the Republican Period. In this study we will try to know the different political vicissitudes that Hipólito Unanue, the founder of the Colegio de Medicina de San Fernando, experienced in the last years of the colonial administration, in the Protectorate Regime (1820-1822) and in the Bolivarian Dictatorship (1823-1826).
