PRESENCE OF BOVINE BRUCELLOSIS IN THE PROVINCE OF OXAPAMPA, DEPARTMENT OF CERRO DE PASCO, PERU

Th e purpose of this research aims to assess the prevalence of Brucella sp. in small and medium livestock cattle farmers in the district of Oxapampa, Chontabamba and Huancabamba province Oxapampa, department of Cerro de Pasco. Rose Bengal Test was used for the detection of Brucella sp. Antibodies. Of the 441 specimens analyzed by this study, none of them tested positive for Brucella’s antibodies, indicating the absence of the disease, that could represent a threat to livestock and public health, in the area. SENASA (National agricultural Health Service) is the responsible institution of the annual vaccination for the control and eradication of the disease.
