Sustainable challenges and stakes for Global South Universities

development of sustainability based on the documentary analysis of nine works carried out in Colombia, Ecuador, Mexico and Venezuela, from 2001 to date, and identifies seven challenges to face: 1 ) Lead by example, taking advantage of resources administratively and academically, and applying participatory education, 2) Promote the change of the educational model to ecological dynamics, systemic analysis, processes, functions, objectives and policies aimed at appropriation, not curricular incorporation , 3) Implement management plans and programs that evaluate the training efforts of the desirable university profile (Escutia, 2006), 4) Develop socially linked environmental research, with a critical vision, promoting technologies and joint work, 5) Integrate various disciplines, responding to the context with transcendental socio-environmental projects, 6) Raise awareness of the differences and problems of society, being an engine of change based on learning, teaching, dissemination and research, and 7) Seek environmental literacy (Castillo, 2021) according to environmental reality , understanding social, historical and ecological processes, environmental sensitivity and promoting actions.
