Psychometric study aimed at empirically validating a scale of lies or social desirability, prepared to discard the sample that scored very high on that scale, which was part of the Inventory of Psychosocial Behavior Mismatch (INDACPS-2020). The INDACPS-2020 was prepared in 2020 and allows to collect information of 9 behavioral indicators of maladjustments, to which the lie scale was added.
The initial total sample contained 1397 subjects; the scores on the lie scale were converted into percentile scores, separating two sample groups: those with very high scores on the lie scale and those with medium and low scores. The final samples were made up of 888 individuals for the honesty group and 509 individuals for the group of lies.
The descriptive statistics of each group were carried out in terms of the 9 indicators of maladjusted psychosocial behavior and then the comparative study of the results of the two groups through nonparametric and parametric statistical procedures.
The results have allowed us to demonstrate that there are statistically significant differences between the sincerity and lies groups, in each of the scales, except for the fear scale. In all cases, it is observed that the liar subjects score as less maladjusted and the honest subjects score as more maladjusted in terms of the 9 indicators.
