Abstract

In this article I will analyse the popular story by Don Ricardo Palma entitled «El abad de Lunahuaná», I will specifically address the traditional and contemporary therapeutic uses of plantain (Plantago major), and its systemic effect on the human body. I will also study the context of medicinal botany during the Peruvian viceroyalty.
