Errata, Corrections and retractions policy

The published manuscripts remain accurate, current, unaltered to the extent possible in the journal. However, there are exceptional circumstances in which an article may be corrected, retracted or even deleted. These actions can be carried out after a rigorous evaluation by the Editorial Committee.

For such cases, rectification policies are presented depending on the type, severity and effects of the inaccuracy detected, such as a correction or errata notice, a retraction or deletion of the article. The objective of these policies is to guarantee the integrity and veracity of the article

Errata policies

An errata notice is published in the cases necessary to correct an omission or error committed by the journal after publication that may have consequences on the publication's record or on the reputation of the authors, without affecting the academic integrity of the manuscripts. Errors are accompanied by a separate notice, providing clear details of the error and any modifications that have been made. In these cases they are:

  • The manuscript is corrected.

  • A note is added to the manuscript at the end that makes reference to the errata notice.

  • An errata or correction notice is published separately associated with the corrected version.

  • The errata or correction document is paged and the DOI is placed.

Corrections policies

A correction notice is generated in cases where it is pertinent to correct an error or omission committed by the authors that may have consequences on the publication record or the reputation of the authors, without affecting the academic integrity of the manuscripts. Are accompanied by a separate notice, providing clear details of the mistake and any modifications that have been made. In these cases they are:

  • The manuscript is corrected.

  • A note is added to the manuscript at the end that makes reference to the correction notice.

  • An errata or correction notice is published separately associated with the corrected version.

  • The errata or correction document is paged and the DOI is placed.

Retraction policies

A retraction notice is published in the event that a significant error invalidates the conclusions of the article, or in the event of misconduct in the publication or when there has been misconduct in the research. Authors request retraction of their manuscripts when their reasons meet the retraction criteria. The retraction operates in:

  • When the inquiry constitutes plagiarism.

  • When there is compromised peer review evidence.

  • When there is evidence of fraudulent authorship.

  • When there is clear evidence that the results are not reliable, due to misconduct, such as data fabrication or even image manipulation; or an error, such as experimental error.

  • When results have previously been published elsewhere without cross-referencing, request appropriate permission or justification; In this sense, cases of duplicate publication or redundant publication are prohibited.

  • When there are indications of unethical research and violations of professional ethical codes.

In the event that the decision has been made to retract a manuscript:

  • A 'retracted article' watermark is added to the published version of the article record.

  • Above the title of the article is placed "Article retracted: [title of article]".

  • A separate retraction statement entitled "Retraction: [article title]" is published, associated with the retracted article, and signed by the editors.

  • The retraction statement is paginated and DOI is placed.

Deleting items

A manuscript is deleted in exceptional cases in which the inconveniences are serious and cannot be addressed through a retraction or correction notice. This circumstance happens in:

  • When a manuscript is subject to a court order.

  • When the manuscript is patently defamatory or infringes other legal rights. When the manuscript, if not acted upon, could pose a serious health risk.

If a manuscript is deleted, the metadata (authorship and title) is maintained and the text is replaced with a document indicating that the manuscript has been deleted for legal reasons.
